Fees & Deposits
The fees below are just a system of payment and not a complete course fee. In the first four sessions you will learn the very basics of each technique. The course can be as long as you want it to be, as it takes many years to become a good potter.
Adults:
400 Dhs for four sessions
Once-only, one time Registration Fee: 60 Dhs
150 Dhs for single session
Registration fee for single session: 15 Dhs each time

280 Dhs for four sessions
Once-only, one time Registration Fee: 60 Dhs

* While students are practicing with the clay they do not have to pay for it, however if the pot is fired and glazed then they will be charged.The deposit paid for the clay is refundable and will be deducted from the price of the last pots that you collect when you finish your classes.
Pottery Course for Individuals
Objective
Learning to make a pot on the potter’s wheel as well as hand building techniques, and /or improving your current skills, also learning to throw larger better pots, also learning all aspects of glazing etc.
Course outline
Beginners will start by learning how to prepare clay and will be given a short lecture on the various stages of pottery and ceramic making, firing and glazing.
The students are introduced to various methods and techniques of pottery and ceramics; they can work at their own pace and choose the technique which they prefer to concentrate on. They will be encouraged to finish, paint and glaze their own pieces. The element of design will also be discussed with the more advanced students.
- Pinching, Coiling, Slab Building and working on the potter’s wheel.
- Turning the base of the pot and foot rings.
- Throwing and distorting shapes
- Making cylinders and repetitive throwing
- Combined hand and wheel building
- Vases, jugs and pitchers
- Handles, rims and bases
- Rims and spouts
- Bowls and plates, lidded pots and casserole dishes

- Abstract ceramics

- Surface decorating and creating textures (carved, incised surfaces)
- Glazing; Various techniques such as Wax resist, sponging, painting, under glaze painting and using oxides.
- Awareness of toxic materials.
- Loading the kiln and various types of Firing.
- Understanding and appreciating shapes and form and aesthetics of pottery and ceramics around the world.
- Learning the different styles of pottery and ceramics and discussing the history and effects of ceramics in various ancient civilizations.
Please note all levels of students are welcome to participate in the above course as it can be adapted for the needs of beginners, intermediate to advance.
Every student is taught individually according to their experience and ability. Everyone will be able to learn how to make a pot from start to finish.
Pottery & Ceramics Training for Teachers/Potters
Aims and Objectives
The course will aim to introduce the participant to all aspects of making, firing, glazing and decorating of pottery and ceramics and to gain confidence and ability to teach various students.
The course will be adapted according to ability and experience of participants.
Major Topics
A) Pottery and Ceramic making:
This section will include introduction to clay types, preparation and recycling of clay, various making techniques such as: Pinching, Coiling, Slab building and throwing on the potter’s wheel. (The potter’s wheel takes a long time to learn. We will introduce the beginners to this art and improve the skills and teaching methods of experienced participants.
B) Glazing, painting and other decorating techniques:
The participants will learn about composition, preparation, and various techniques of applying of glazes and under glazes and aspects of decorating pottery and ceramics such as waxing, carving, etc.
C) Firing:
All aspects of firing such as correct kiln loading, correct procedures for firing and logging firing, various kinds of firings: Oxidation, Reduction, Raku, Salt and Soda firing.
D) Health and safety in pottery workshop
E) Knowing and recognizing toxic materials.
F) Recycling in pottery workshops.

This course can be carried out on a single day or spread over 2 to 4 sessions according to the participant’s requirement.
Booking
Booking must be made and paid for at least 2 weeks in advance
Cancellation
If cancellation is done one week in advance, 50% of the fee will be refunded. There is no refund if cancellation is done in less than one week.

This tutorial can be carried out for students of all ages and backgrounds and can be adapted to suit the age of participants, starting from 5 years old to A level and university students and other interested groups of adults.

During the lecture students can make a pinch pot of their own which can be taken home or can be left at the pottery to be fired and collected at a later date (Please allow 4 - 6 weeks before collection). They will also be shown around the pottery (kilns and pug mill) and will be able to see a demonstration on the various techniques of pottery.
Duration:1 Hour
Fees: AED 35 per person (the UNFIRED pot to be taken home with them)
AED 45 per person (the FIRED pot to be taken home at a later date).
Children's Pottery Birthday Parties
Children are introduced to Hand-building pottery.
They will make a pinch pot / animals / small teapot / small pendants (time permitting, some of these items will be made) The items will be fired and glazed and you will be able to pick them up 4-6 weeks later.
The minimum number of children is eight (8).
